We are a free advisory platform that helps international students understand, compare, and secure student loans for their studies abroad, whether it’s an MBA, master’s, undergraduate, or professional program in the U.S., Canada, or Europe.
Our mission is simple: to empower global talent with the knowledge and tools to finance their education wisely and pursue their academic goals without overpaying or feeling lost in the process.
About The Team
Lorena Lizarraga moved to the United States in 2019 as an international student. Like many others, she had to go through the challenging process of securing a student loan to finance her studies.
After experiencing firsthand the stress of finding funding in a foreign country, Lorena began helping other students navigate the same journey, guiding them to understand their options and choose the best way to finance their education abroad.
In 2025, she founded Trotamundos.org, a free advisory platform created to make the financing process clear and accessible for international students. Since then, she has personally advised over 150 students, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback for her clarity, empathy, and practical support.
Lorena now lives in Miami with her husband and their two-year-old son, continuing her mission to make education abroad possible for more students every day.

- University and program – Not all lenders work with every school.
- Nationality – Financing options vary depending on your country of origin.
- Whether you have a cosigner – If you have a U.S.-based guarantor, you may access better rates.

If you decide to take a loan, the lender pays us a referral commission. This does not affect your loan terms.

Not always. There are two types of loans:
- With a cosigner – Requires a guarantor with U.S. credit history and usually offers lower interest rates.
- Without a cosigner – Some lenders offer options without a guarantor.
If you do not have a cosigner, we will help you explore all viable alternatives for your profile.
It depends on the lender, but the full process can take up to six weeks.
We recommend starting early because:

- You can move forward with your F-1 visa process.
Yes. Most lenders allow early repayment without penalties.
- This helps you reduce the total interest paid.
- Some lenders also allow voluntary payments while you study.
